1. In 1950, the R.O.C Military Academy was reestablished in Taiwan. Mr.Chang Zhang-You was assigned to be the foreign language instructor in Common Science section and he was also responsible for all foreign language related business.民國三十九年陸軍官校在台復校，外文教學由張長有老師擔任普通科學部外文組主任教官，負責掌管業務。
2. In June 1954, our school was reformed into four-year university and the Language Department was created. The Language Department included what is now the Literature and History Department in addition to foreign languages.民國四十三年六月本校改制為四年制大學教育，並成立語文系（含現文史系、外文系教學任務）。語文系主任由錢歌川擔任。
3. Since the division of the Language Department in 1963, the Foreign Language Department has been an independent department. 民國五十二年外文系分系後一直隸屬普通科。

4. In August 1975, our department joined the Social Science section. 民國六十四年八月起隸屬社會科學部。
5. Since 1996, our department has been part of the College Section.  民國八十五年八月改隸大學部迄今。

Future Expectation 未來展望

1. Hire more experienced professors: Our department will continually hire faculty who have a Ph.D. in literature, linguistics, English teaching or multi-media language teaching. These professors can balance teaching fields and specialized areas, promote the atmosphere of language and literature study, and help vary our department's teaching. 加強師資陣容：本系未來將持續聘請具有博士學位之助理教授以上 軍、文職教師，且專長於文學、語文學、英語教學、多媒體語言教學等領域皆有，將可使系上師資之教學與研究專長領域分佈平均，以提昇本系語文學術研究風氣及教學多元化。
2. Renew the teaching equipment：We constantly seek to modernize our facilities.
3. Hold all sorts of academic workshops： Our department will hold all sorts of academic workshops, essay-delivering seminars and academic lectures to increase the experience of English teaching exchange among universities and stimulate our professors to do more academic study in order to promote the academic reputation of our Academy. 舉辦各型學術研討會：本系未來將朝舉辦各型學術研討會、論文發表會及學術演講會，來增進各校英語文教學交流，期能刺激學術研究提昇本校學術地位。
