Blueprint for the Perfect Self-Introduction

There is no one format for a self-introduction that fits everyone well. The purpose of a self-introduction is to present yourself to someone else, therefore you must personalize it to your needs. This site is intended to provide you with a starting point for creating your own way of introducing yourself.

If everyone said the same exact details about themselves in the same order, meeting new people would be very boring. I encourage you to mix up the following pieces of information in any order you feel appropriate. In conclusion, the more you personalize your introduction, the closer you are to having the perfect self-introduction.

A basic introduction includes some of the following points. Click on each for more information about how to best state that information.

Usually when you meet a new person, introductions take the form of conversations, instead of speeches. Therefore, I have information on the questions you need to ask for this information HERE.

This page does not help you to introduce another person. Provide the same information as you would if you would introduce yourself and use "he" or "she" instead of "I." Typically a simple introduction includes telling the person's name, job title, and your relation to the person. You may also want to share a brief story about how you first met the person or how long you have been friends or working together.

In Chinese self-introductions, it is fairly common to say your blood type or astrological sign. In western societies, that is not common, so you may not want to include them. If you are interested, however, you can learn how to give that information HERE.

Some people are comfortable discussing religion, but others are not. It is often hard to predict how a person will react when you mention religion, so it is usually a good subject to avoid until you know a person very well. You can learn how to discuss religion HERE
